Over the past two decades, Ranchlands (with properties in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming) has grown from a family cattle ranching business to one of the great ranching companies of the West. Its grassroots model honors and embraces ranching traditions while working tirelessly to sustain and conserve the land for future generations.
Illustrated with galleries of stunning images from a variety of photographers who have worked or spent time on Ranchlands properties over the years, Ranchlands showcases the seasonal rhythms of the ranch, the daily lives of its team members, the flow of herds of cattle and bison on the open range, communities of wildlife, working horses, and the breathtaking sweep of the Western landscape.

Ranchlands
For the past year, I have been photographing the Philips family, here in Colorado. They have been ranching for some five generations now, and manage several ranches across three states. They have called their ranch management company Ranchlands. They are unique in that they use ranching as a means of conservation to keep the land healthy by incorporating a model that includes traditional methods while embracing modern methods to ensure they have a future in agriculture. They are a truly amazing group of hard working people, and I am honored to be able to follow them about and from time to time, pitch in a little. As I am entering the second year of shooting with the Ranchlands crew, I suppose this is a good time to let people know what this is all about. At the end of the two years, I will be publishing a photo documentary book of my time on the ranch.
